COPS Junior Cadets Program

Application Package

Dear Parent/Guardian,

I am happy your son/daughter has chosen the Peel Police Junior Cadet Program.

The Junior Cadet Program aims to introduce teamwork and leadership skills and helps your child learn to overcome obstacles in a fun, safe and secure environment. Below is some information I would like you to know when your son/daughter joins. This program is available to children between the age of 10-11. On or before your child's 12th birthday, please ask us about transferring them into our Sea, Army, or Air Cadet unit.

Supervision

Please know that your son/daughter will be supervised by dedicated adults that have been with the program for many years. These adults donate much of their time to develop Junior Cadets and give them as much positive influence and experiences as possible.

Activities

The Junior Cadets will participate in many events during the course of the training year. We will hand out permission forms prior to each event so please ask your child about the forms. Also, please be advised that if your son/daughter does not have their health card and signed permission slip with them, they will not be able to participate in the trips (no exceptions).

Once all of your son/daughter’s paperwork is handed in, I suggest they attend as many events as possible, as it will only heighten their experience in Junior Cadets. Many times these are free or have a very low cost.

Commitment

We ask that your son/daughter attend as many Tuesday training nights as possible. We view maximum attendance in the program as an important part of your child’s learning. If your son/daughter is sick or has a reason to miss training night, please email us at junior@2824cops.com.

Uniforms

Once your son/daughter is in the Junior Program, they will be issued a uniform. Uniforms will be free of cost but are expected to be clean for every event and training night they attend. Should your son/daughter decide to leave the Junior Cadets, we expect that the uniform be returned to us as soon as possible. Parents shall supply black comfortable shoes at the families expense.
